From September 14–27 and October 12–25, there will be temporary changes to the train schedules for the Vilnius–Kaunas–Vilnius and Vilnius–Šiauliai–Vilnius routes operated by “LTG Link,” the passenger transport company of the LTG Group. These changes are due to major repairs to the overhead contact system, which are intended to ensure smoother travel on one of the country’s busiest railway sections.

Due to the planned restrictions, trains on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Vilnius route will run less frequently than usual; however, passengers will still be able to travel comfortably, with 30 round-trip services per day. In addition, some of these trips will be operated with higher-capacity trains, allowing more passengers to travel on a single trip.

“The Vilnius–Kaunas route is one of the busiest in Lithuania, so consistent infrastructure upgrades are essential to ensuring reliable and punctual travel. Although we can all expect temporary schedule changes during the construction period and will need a little more patience, these upgrades are an investment in even more comfortable, safer, and more reliable travel in the future,” says Kristina Meidė, CEO of LTG Link.

The main renovation work will be carried out on the Lentvaris–Vievis section and will take place in two phases during pre-scheduled traffic interruptions. To ensure uninterrupted traffic flow, the work is planned in stages: one track will be closed in September, and the other in October. During the repairs, 5 km of contact wire and 10 km of suspension wire will be replaced, and fasteners, supports, and other structural elements will be upgraded.
