LTG Link, the passenger transportation company, is resuming international train services to Poland in cooperation with the Polish carrier Polregio. Trains on the route Kaunas-Bialystok-Kaunas will resume from 1 July.

Tickets for this resumed route will be available for purchase from 1 July on the company’s website www.LTGLink.lt, via the mobile app, on the Polish company’s website www.polregio.pl/en/, at ticket offices and on board the train. Trains leave from Bialystok at 14:58 on Fridays and Saturdays and from Kaunas at 9:10 on Saturdays and Sundays.

We have been preparing to resume these services for months, and with almost all COVID-19 restrictions lifted and the growth in demand for travel to Poland, we can now announce the dates for the first resumed routes to Poland. Railways provide the most reliable transportation of passengers to their destination, and it is therefore important more than ever to have an active rail link to the West. What’s more, train enthusiasts will have the opportunity again to travel to Polish cities to spend leisure time, reach Warsaw and, through Warsaw, other European cities,” says Linas Baužys, CEO of LTG Link.

The train to Bialystok will have 140 seats and a journey will last 4 hours and 33 minutes. The standard fare will be €11, with reduced fares for children travelling together.

Those wishing to reach Warsaw by train will have the possibility to change trains in Bialystok. The train journey from Kaunas to Warsaw, with change in Bialystok, is expected to take 7 hours and 54 minutes.

This international route, the same as in Lithuania, will allow you to comfortably carry your personal hand luggage or bicycles, as well as to travel with your pets if you have a health certificate from a veterinarian. Travelling with a bicycle, a pet or luggage weighing more than 36 kg (but not more than 50 kg) will cost €2 each. International travellers are required to have their IDs and printed travel tickets.

LTG Link is currently working and negotiating with its partners in Poland launch of a direct route between the two capitals of Vilnius and Warsaw.

LTG Link is part of the Lietuvos Geležinkeliai Group, operating as a separate company since September 2019. The company’s principal activity is passenger transportation by rail in Lithuania and abroad. The number of LTG Link passengers was steadily increasing before the COVID-19 pandemic, and in 2019 a record 5.5 million people rode the train. Even though the pandemic reduced passenger flows between 2020 and 2021, the company has been successful in providing essential intercity transport services in the country throughout the pandemic period.
