Railway Museum in Šiauliai

Indoor exposition in Šiauliai

The Šiauliai Railway Museum was founded on September 4th, 1971 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Šiauliai Railway Station. The initiator of the museum was Aronas Petuchovskis, then station master.

The exposition offers an insight into the history of the railways from 1871 to the present day: a photo of the first train to arrive in Šiauliai; a glass engraved with the letters "ЛРЖД" (Libau–Romny Railway) from 1880, a SIEMENS HALSKE telephone (1st half of the 20th century), a unique oak chair engraved with the letters "LG" (1st half of the 20th century), placed in the restored ticket office of the inter-war Lithuanian railway station.  Tools and instruments used by road workers, signalmen, electricians, as well as signal devices can also be seen in the hall. The children's biggest delight is a model railway with working toy trains.
